University of Richmond Bridge to Success As a transition program, Bridge to Success prepares first-year students to meet the rigorous demands and expectations of the University’s academic program. The program eases the first-year student into college living and learning. Participants will take one three-credit course during the program. In addition, the students will be required to enroll in Interdisciplinary Writing Skills (English 100) and Analytical Writing (English 199), which last the entire six weeks of the program. Participants will receive a total of six credits for these courses. By participating in Bridge to Success, incoming first-year students will not only learn to cope with the pressures of college life, they will also build relationships with peers and faculty/staff members who will support them through their years at UR. Policies and Practices By attending Bridge to Success you are agreeing to abide by the following rules:
The Learning Agreement Faculty and staff will work with students from the beginning of the program to define and reach agreement on individual learning goals in which the student plays a major role in defining his or her own needs and expected outcomes. Students and staff will agree on targets for each individual and measure progress and achievement against these goals. This will be a written agreement that will allow staff to focus on the real needs of each student. Bridge to Success Staff
